Are you tired of feeling judged by numbers?

ree

Most health advice leans heavily on numbers.

Weight. Calories. Cavities.

On paper, these measurements are neutral. In real life, they rarely stay that way.

Numbers quietly turn into stories — stories about who we are, how well we’re doing, and whether we’ve failed. A single “bad” number can slip from data into verdict:

I should be better than this. Other peopl

e have figured this out. Something is wrong with me.

Once that shift happens, the problem is no longer about information. The numbers stop feeling helpful and start feeling judgmental.

Shame. Fear. Guilt.

And when judgment enters the room, curiosity leaves.Without curiosity, behaviour change becomes almost impossible. This is where avoidance often appears.

People cancel dental appointments. They turn scales to face the wall. They stop tracking food or avoid mirrors altogether.

These behaviours are often labelled as laziness or a lack of discipline. But avoidance is rarely a character flaw. More often, it’s a protective reflex.

So instead of blaming people for avoiding health behaviours, a more effective approach is understanding. We need to dismantle the power of numbers — shifting them from verdicts to feedback, from threats to information.

This isn’t about fixing people. It’s about understanding them.
